Winter cleaning (and a mini update)

Warm weather and a break from the snow has given me a chance to do some.cleaning and touch up waxing. I still can’t speak highly.enough about triple yellow. More after the jump.

I still want to post a proper review of this car. But it is much harder to do than the fiesta ST. And that car is the reason why....

I like that the FoST isn’t perfect. I don’t care about the small bump it had. I don’t care that it is heavy and kinda bulky compared to the FiST. I love how the ride actually gives a damn about comfort and probably sacrificed some peak speed to do it. At the same.time, the car LOVES to rev up into boost and leave everyone behind. It behaves wonderfully on the snow. It holds lines in curves very obediently and still eggs you on a bit. Not as much as the FiST, but it is very apparent behind the wheel that this car wants to keep its momentum.

It’s an interesting case study as one of the last of the dinosaurs- a big turbo 4 banger FWD hot hatch with little in the way of electrics and a need for a limited slip diff to be perfect.

It’s been 6 months since I bought it and I don’t regret a thing.

When did this color come out? Definitely wasn’t available when I bought mine (not that I wouldn’t have gone white, but that’s my favorite color on cars).

They really are fabulous cars, aren’t they? Amazing cornering, enough power. All they need is to be able to put the power down better from a stop. Once they’re moving...fun.

Triple Yellow replaced Tangerine Scream in 2017. It is still available in 2018 but they also replaced the red and the blue so I don’t imagine many takers of TY will happen. Many who took TS hate TY for some reason.....oh well.

Triple Yellow is a cool color. Definitely better than school bus yellow.

I do envy the tarp blue and stealth grey they paint the RS. I would have took the latter, but it would have been a hard choice between the two.

Yeah. I was under the impression it wa 2017 only but I guess it’ll be a pretty limited color irregardless if forums are anything to go by. Funnily enough, so many people off the street seem to love it. It is very much the color I needed to get.

I don’t mind the RS colors, but I hate grayscale colors on a hot hatch. I know you like white, but it isn’t for me. Hot hatchbacks wear colors so well that it seems a shame to not get something different. I love being next to random crossovers and sedans all in shades of silver or black or maybe a dark blue if they’re “bold” and being like LOOK AT ME! I’M BRIGHT YELLOW AND I MAKE TURBO WOOSH NOISES AND I GO REALLY FAST COMPARED TO YOU! OKAY THE LIGHT IS GREEN NOW, SO HERE I GO! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

This is going to sound weird, but I think TY is actually more subtle than TS. I like the yellow better, but I think the kind of people who bought TS wanted something really shouty. TY is bright but it’s not obnoxious. I test drove a TS FoST at some point in 2015 and I just couldn’t do it. It felt like it was drawing way too much attention. And this is coming from someone who used to daily a yellow Chevy pickup.

Dodo Juice is a U.K. company that make waxes with many of them geared up for a certain colour or ease of use.

They do small ‘panel pots’, which will do a whole car or two for a small amount.

I love the fact my color doesn’t attract any attention. Mine avoids attention even down to the silver calipers. Only the wheels and badge might tip someone that doesn’t know off that it isn’t a base Focus. It’s better if nobody even realizes I’m there.

Another reason I waited for the 2015 was that they dramatically subdued the exterior styling from the obvious boy racer 2013-2014 STs (which I couldn’t bring myself to buy because I didn’t want to draw attention).

This has worked out for me thus far. Between cruise control and my invisibility, I’ve avoided the police since buying the car...

I haven’t seen a Triple Yellow FoST yet, but I recently saw a Mustang in the color and fell in love with it. I totally get it.
